A hero without a stage.
“Everything that came after the World Cup”, Werner Kohlmeyer is said to have remarked, “was like one long lost weekend.”
The fame and pride he brought back from Bern put him at odds with people at home in his small town. To protect his self-image, he turns to alcohol. Having lost his job, his club and his family, he drifts through the Westpfalz region as a homeless man. Who is Werner Kohlmeyer if not a world champion?
A small new beginning.
In a small pub in Morlautern, “Kohli” meets a young landlord who offers him a roof over his head and his friendship. Away from the spotlight and from shame, Kohlmeyer dares a small new beginning.
The story is not about the victory but about what comes after. Good stories often begin where the familiar narrative ends. We bring the same perspective when companies tell their own story.
A true story
It is based on the life of a 1954 world champion, told across the years after the title.
A conflict within
The opponent is not on the pitch but in his own self-image. That carries an entire feature film.
Westpfalz instead of the stadium
Small town, pub, country road: the story takes place where fame does not reach.
A story in development.
The treatment is complete. The film is at the screenplay stage.
